Lawrence C. “Mac” McKinsey, 92, of Anderson, passed away on July 15, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield, following a brief illness.
He was born on May 27, 1921 in Henry County, Indiana to William and Virginia McKinsey, and graduated from Cadiz High School in 1939. He proudly served his country as a machinist 2nd class in United States Navy during WWII, prior to his employment with Delco Remy, and Wilkinson’s Implement of Knightstown.
In 1958, he moved to San Diego California, and was employed as a Machinist for Ditch-Witch, and later retired from that company. He moved back to Anderson in 2005 to be near family and friends. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and being with his family. Those family members left behind to cherish his memory include his sisters, Lois James McLain of New Castle, and Jeanette Elmore Marshall of Olympia, WA. Also, his nieces and nephews, Judy Forrest Mellot of Greenwood, Michael Elaine Cockrill of Anderson, Stephen Sue Cockrill of Daleville, Rick Connie McLain of New Castle, Bruce Marshall of Olympia, WA, and Carol Cockrill of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Virginia McKinsey, a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur Doris McKinsey, and a sister, Anna Everett Cockrill.
