Lawrence Alfred Lange, 79, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Wednesday night, January 26, 2011 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan. Lawrence was born January 31, 1931 to Henry Ernest and Edna (Joerdens) Lange in Three Oaks. His mother died when he was only 2 years old and his sisters raised him, with his sister Helen, as his primary caregiver. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1950 and continued his education learning the tool and die trade. He served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

On October 16, 1954, Lawrence married Anna Rose Turek in Three Oaks. To this union of 56 years, 5 sons were born. Upon Lawrence’s retirement from Bendix in South Bend, he began a new career path, assisting his son at Lange’s Market in Michigan City, Indiana. He enjoyed farming, being outdoors, traveling, genealogy research, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; sons, Lawrence (Lisa) Lange of Three Oaks; Garry (Liz) Lange of Sawyer, Michigan; Peter Lange of LaPorte, Indiana; Fred (Katie) Lange of Three Oaks and Karl Lange of Three Oaks; 8 grandchildren; his sisters, Edith Lange of Three Oaks and Mary Ellison of Port Charlotte, Florida; many nieces and nephews, and his little dog, Mandy.
