Lawrence A. Scherer, 83, of Silver Ridge Park West section of Berkeley Twp., NJ passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in New York City, he lived in Brick before moving to Silver Ridge Park 20 years ago. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran, attaining the rank of Private 1st Class. Lawrence retired from the Township of Brick and was manager of the Colony Tavern in Jersey City. He was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp., and was a member of the American Legion Post 348, Brick, NJ, the VFW Post 10185, Berkeley Twp. and the Silver Ridge Park West Men’s Club.
Lawrence also served as a Trustee for the Silver Ridge Park West Section 11. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Doris (nee Critelli) 2 sons and daughters in law Robert & Caryl Scherer of Brick, NJ and Richard & Kristyn Scherer of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, 2 sisters and brothers in law Catherine & Carl Ingrilli of NY and Dorothy & Peter Barbera of S.C., 3 grandchildren James Scherer and his wife Cheryl, Jeffrey Scherer and Leann Scherer, 2 great grandchildren Adam Lawrence & Owen Anthony Scherer, 2 brothers in law and their wives Frank & Eleanor Critelli and Anthony & Mildred Critelli, a sister in law and her husband Rose & John Sciarappa and many nieces and nephews.
