Lawrence (Larry) Arthur Craig entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 3th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 101.

Larry was born in Newtown Connecticut on June 20th, 1921 to James and Regina Liebold Craig. He grew up with 11 brothers and sisters and fondly recalled memories of his childhood with them.

He attended the one-room schoolhouse in the Hattertown section of Newtown that remains standing today.

Larry enlisted in the United States Navy at age 21 and was assigned to the USS Denver. Serving as the ship’s coxswain, he assisted the captain through many historic battles. He proudly served his country and was known for telling stories of his memories on the ship, as well as his beloved shipmates.

Upon returning from the war, he worked as a hatter for the Neuman & Endler Company of Danbury. Later, would spend his life as a carpenter building homes in Danbury, Newtown, and Nantucket.

He met the love of his life, Mamie Hajjar, on Valentine’s Day and they married in 1959.

Larry is survived by his wife Mamie of 62 years. He is also survived by his cherished daughters, Regina Craig of Danbury, and Mary (Dan) Reisert of Danbury along with 3 grandchildren that he adored, Ryan Reisert of Glastonbury CT, Alison (Liam) Fay of Pawling NY, and Danielle Reisert of Danbury.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends who became just like family.

Larry was a man of faith and loved his wife and family more than anything. He enjoyed painting birdhouses, reading, gardening, and caring for his chickens, Larry never turned down a sweet treat.

He proudly raised the American flag outside his home to show his respect for his country. He was a member of St.
