Wanda was born July 19, 1922, in Rosedale, Okla., (Indian Territory) to Charles William Thompson and Mertie Cleo Sheldon. She had one ½ sister, Betty Thompson Smith who she lost contact with when coming to California. They were reunited years later.

She was living in Kern County when her grandmother died. It was then she took a job as a live in housekeeper and babysitter for a family with two little girls. That family took the place of the one she never had and she eventually named her daughter after both of those little girls. It was during this time that she met her first husband and ther of her children, James “Jimmy” R Hainline, who preceded her in death. They eloped to Vegas, Nev., in March of 1940.

They had two children, Shirley D Shannon (Mike) and James “Jimmy” D Hainline.
In 1945, they moved to Ven-tura County and Wanda went work at Happy’s Landing at the Oxnard Air Port. After moving to Port Hueneme, she worked the Top Deck. Her next and last job was working for the Wagon Wheel Restaurant. She worked there until her retirement after 23 years.

In 1966, she married Ali R Ymer. They were later sealed time and eternity in the Los Angeles Temple. They lived in Oxnard until 2008 when they
moved to the Ventura Marina Mobile Estates. It was at this time when she was first diagnosed with early stages of Alzheimer’s. In 2009, she was
diagnosed with lung cancer. fought these diseases just like she lived life…fearlessly.
Wanda’s greatest joy was her family. She loved quilting and needlework, and reading and cooking. She was absolutely the best cook and loved to cook for
her family and friends. She loved and was so thankful for her husband who was so kind to her. Wanda was a resident of Ventura County for over 50 years.

Although she faced many challenges in life, she was never held back by them, but was always cheerful and had a positive attitude towards people and life. She sacrificed many times for her children as they were growing up. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be remembered for her generosity and unconditional love.
