Lavonia (Gibson) Sonnenburg, December 31, 1938 – January 17, 2019.

Lavonia (Gibson) Sonnenburg, 80, of Temple, Texas passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Baylor-Scott and White Hospital in Temple.

Lavonia Sonnenburg was an 80 year old high spirited Texas woman. Born on December 31, 1938 in Temple, Texas to Leroy and Inez (Paulk) Gibson, she was known as Punkin’ to some and some called her Lavonia and because her baby brother, Dickey, could not pronounce Lavonia, a few called her Sister. Lavonia was a leader in her career, was an active member in her church where she served as a kindergarden bible class teacher, and she enjoyed being involved in the Women’s Ministry as well as many other areas of service in the church.

Lavonia had a long marriage of 51 years to Lee D. “Burger” Sonnenburg before his passing in 2012. She loved her dog, Bitsy, her Sonic Diet Coke and telling stories. She was a giver, she was opinionated and she was not afraid to say what was on her mind. God shared with us a wonderful and unique life. She took care of people and our family is grateful for how her friends took care of her. Her spirit is carried on by her favorite person in this world, Great Grand nephew Brock Gibson, many nieces and nephews and lots of good friends.
