LaVerne (Thompson) Judy, 84, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Her beloved husband of 61 years, Victor, was at her side as always as she peacefully passed away of natural causes.

She was born December 2, 1925 to Ralph Mansel Thompson and Eliza Grace Barker in Wilmar, California.  Most of her childhood was spent in Roy, Utah.  She graduated from BYU with a BA in Education and received her MA from ASU in 1968.

LaVerne loved and was involved with music throughout her life.

She was sealed for time and all eternity to Victor Judy on November 23, 1948 in the Salt Lake CityTemple.  Their relationship was a beautiful example of respect and kindness for all of their children to follow.  When her health gradually weakened, Victor lovingly tended to her every need with patience and kindness.  LaVerne and Victor had a truly loving relationship.

LaVerne loved children.  She and Vic adopted 7 children over 7 years and had 9 foster children in their home. Several of the children came from high risk situations – she loved them all unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marva Feinauer; and two daughters, Grace Chapman and Ann Morrell.  She is survived by her husband, J. Victor Judy; her brother, Michael (Judy) Thompson of Centerville, Utah; two daughters, Vicki (Larry) Hobbs, Michele (Bryan) Storer; three sons, Gregg (Pamela) Judy, David Judy, Kent Judy; 11 grandchildren, Jessie Hobbs, Joshua (Stacey) Hobbs, Chance (Shea) Hobbs, Evan Hobbs, Cami Hobbs, Scott Judy, Brandon Judy, Ben Storer, Eric Storer, Spencer Storer and Emma Storer; and four great-granddaughters, Mackenzie, Kallie, Brynn, and Kaidrey.
