LaVerne E. Gildner, Sr., 87, of Hanover Township, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. He was the husband of the late Marguerite A. (Mackes) Gildner, with whom he shared over 43 years of marriage. Born in North Whitehall Township, LaVerne was the son of the late Earl and Mabel (Miller) Gildner. He served in the US Army during WWII, and then worked for Branch Motor Express for 37 years, and for Kistler OBrien Fire Protection for 12 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member and past master of Charity Lodge #144 of Free and Accepted Masons in Lewisburg, and was also a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Center City Chess Club. Survivors: son LaVerne E. Gildner, Jr. of Whittier, CA; daughter Dorene F. Blatt and her husband Norman, Jr., of Fountain Hill; brother Telford L. Gildner and his wife Nancy of Allentown; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. LaVerne was predeceased by a daughter, Vicki Marie Gildner, and a brother, Donald H. Gildner.
