Angels carried LaVerne Umphress into the presence of the Lord, January 28th, 2012. LaVerne was born August 17, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to Rufus L. Boyd and Ruth May Moreland Boyd Hayes. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, looking well into the ways of her household and always giving more than receiving.
In 2008 her health began to fail leaving her unable ot stand or walk again. She lived at The Plaza at Mansfield where she left behind many fiends who cared for her and gave something she’d never had… True friends that loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father R.L. Boyd in 1938, her mother Ruth Hayes in 1998, her sisters, Juanita Dean of Midlothian, Pauline Hood of Irving, brother William L. Boyd of Dallas in 1974, daughter Sandie Kay Eddlemon of Ovilla, Texas in 2010 and grandson Jeffrey Anthony Barker of Ovilla, Texas in 2003.
LaVerne is survived by four daughters and one son, Linda Eddlemon Grant and husband Ronnie of Midlothian, TX, Jessie Ruth Bone and husband Billy of Mabank, TX, Betty Sue Eddlemon Reeves of Red Oak, TX., Sheila Marie Umphress Johnson and husband Danny of Greenville, TX and Samuel Eugene Eddlemon, Jr. and wife Norma of Grand Prairie, TX, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
