Lavern F. Rome, 89, of Littleton, Colorado, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Raymond, and their son, Edward. Her survivors include her sons, Ken (Lisa) of Littleton, Jerry (Susan) of Denver, and Larry (Kathy) of Greeley. She had six grandchildren, Christopher Rome, Marcie Rome, Matthew Rome, Jessica Dale, Jennifer Putman, and Andrew Rome. She has two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Landen. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Rome Bruning. Lavern was born on May 15, 1928, and raised in Denver, Colorado. Her father, John Kadnuck, was born in Slovenia, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1915. Lavern’s mother, Corrina Popish, was also born in Denver, and was the daughter of two Slovenian immigrants. Lavern was one of four children. Her brothers, John and Robert, and her sister, Lorraine, preceded her in death. She graduated from Annunciation High School in 1947. Shortly after that, she met Ray who had just returned from serving in the US Air Force during World War II, flying B-17 missions over Germany. Lavern and Ray were married on May 13, 1950. By 1955, she was raising three boys, and then added a fourth in 1961. In addition to being a great mom, she also managed to work part time for many years as a retail clerk at a local grocery store.
