Lauretta Marie Kennedy died peacefully but unexpectedly in her home in Meridian, Idaho, on October 30, 2022, following surgery earlier in the week. She was loved by all who knew her and provided a light to the world with her smile and laugh.

Lauretta was born in Lawrence, Kansas on August 16th, 1987, the eldest child of Joel and Laurie Kennedy. She was soon joined in the family by her brothers Robert and Sean. As a child, Lauretta was able to see much of the United States as a self-described “Navy Brat”, living for a time in Kansas, Florida, South Carolina, Connecticut and California, before finally settling with her family in Idaho. She graduated as part of Mountain View High School’s 2nd graduating class in 2005.

While working towards her degree at BYU-Idaho and CWI, Lauretta mostly worked and lived in Meridian. As a pastime at work, Lauretta supported and coordinated efforts to decorate the cubes of her coworkers on their birthdays. Committed to giving to and helping others, Lauretta excelled at lending a hand or ear to those in need.

In her later years of life, she focused her efforts to being side by side with her beloved friend and mother, Laurie.
A lover of Disney, many of her best memories centered around Disneyland and Disney Cruise trips she had taken over the years. She was a frequent attendee of the local theaters, always being so excited to catch a movie with her loved ones. Her shelves were filled with the books she loved to read, many centered around her passion of British Royal culture. A proud Hufflepuff, she was always close to a piece of Harry Potter fandom. Additionally, she loved to play card and board games with family and friends; among her favorites were Lord of the Rings Monopoly, Uno, and The Great Dalmuti (which she almost always won).

Lauretta is survived by her loving father and mother, Joel and Laurie Kennedy; brother, Robert Kennedy of Seattle, WA, and brother Sean Kennedy of Boise, ID. She was pre-deceased by, among others, a grandmother, grandfather, and aunt, all of whom she has rejoined in Heaven.
