  • Date Of Birth: November 25, 1923
  • Date Of Death: June 18, 2012
  • State: Maryland

Mrs. Lauretta Hightower Hall was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Walter Hightower, loving father/grandfather and a good hard working man, and his first wife, Drusilla Dupree Hightower, on November 25, 1923.  Ms. Lauretta (as some called her) was raised with younger brother Walter “Bubba” Hightower by their father and her stepmother Marion Thompson Hightower – music and Sunday School teacher, plus equally loving parent – after her birth mother died when she was two years old.  The Hightower family lived in Arlington County, Virginia since Ms. Lauretta was around ten years old.

During her lifetime, Ms. Lauretta made a number of significant accomplishments.  She earned a Masters degree in Art Education.  She married former WWII veteran Otis Hall – a noble and admirable man – and happily remained his wife until his death twenty-four years later in 1972.  She taught Art Appreciation at Parker Gray Middle School in Alexandria, Virginia for nearly forty years and became loved by a number of her students.  She designed the home in which she and her family lived, and through her church and volunteer organizations was actively involved in her community.  She traveled extensively throughout the country and around the world, learning much about many different cultures and their people.A very giving person, as well as highly compassionate, she helped benefit many charitable organizations throughout her life, whose final years she lived out quietly in the dignity of her own home.

Early in the morning of June 18, 2012, Ms. Lauretta left this world peacefully while in her sleep.  A once beautiful lady possessed of an irresistible charm and glowingly radiant personality, she will be greatly missed by the family members and good friends who loved her dearly.  And especially by her son, John Wyatt Dupree Hall, who will always honor her memory.

Ms. Lauretta is survived by her son, John “Wyatt” Hall; a brother, Walter “Bubba” Hightower; one niece, Cheryl Hall (Jack) Carney; one nephew, Terry Hightower and a host of other relatives and friends.
