Laurence Allen Deets, 81, of Coral Gables passed away on February 22, 2022 from congestive heart failure.
Larry was born to Laurence and June Deets on March 6, 1940 in Princeton, Illinois. Larry moved to Miami Springs with his family in 1946 and graduated from Hialeah High school in 1958. After graduating from Stetson University Larry then served in country in the First Squadron, 2nd Army Calvary for 4 years in Germany and 1 year in Vietnam.
Larry was a Commercial Insurance broker first for Pilot Life and later for Frank B. Hall. He opened his own business with Tom Buckley and in 1994 they merged and became Butler Buckley Deets, the oldest insurance agency in South Florida.
An active volunteer, Larry affiliated with many south Florida charitable causes. He proudly served on the board of Good Will Industries for 35 year.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Olivia Horton Deets. He is also survived by his sister, Montie Horton Kehoe (Kenneth); His sister Edie Gould (Robert); his brother Starr Wyatt Horton (Oksana); his brother Mallory McCall Horton (Laura Morgan); and his brother Page Horton (Julie). He was a loyal husband, brother and friend.
