Laura Juanita Woodrum 82, of LaSalle, passed away 11:50 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She was born December 17, 1926 in Hinton, Summers County, West Virginia to Frank A. and Anne E. (Patrick) Woodrum. She attended Hinton High School, Hinton West Virginia: attended Piedmont Bible College, Winston Salem, North Carolina; and graduated in 1945 from the University of Virginia Hospital School of Nursing, Charlottesville, Virginia.
She was employed by the Hinton Hospital from September 28, 1952 until July 30, 1977, when the hospital closed. She was employed as a registered nurse at the West Virginia Prison for Women. After moving to LaSalle, in 1981, she was employed by Illinois Valley Community Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit. She is survived by many friends, several half nieces, half nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister Ruth Shields two half brothers, one half sister, one foster sister, and one foster brother, nieces, nephews and cousins.
