Norwich – Laura Porter Briggs was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2012. She was born in Norwich on September 9, 1920 daughter of the late Arthur B. Porter and Emma (Fontaine) Porter. Ms. Briggs was predeceased by her brother Joseph Porter Sr. Laura was a WWII Veteran serving in the WAAC. She worked as a legal secretary with Attorney Richard Norman for many years. She was a secretary and chaperone for the Firettes, all girl Drum and Bugle Corps and she loved her girls. She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Briggs Hlavac and a niece Barbara Barclay and numerous great nieces and nephews as well as her special family Dorothy P., Lynn F., Shirley and Jon K., Bonnie & Jay, Erin, Mike, Emily and Megan, Debbie P, Doris and Joe K., Kathy Y. and Sue N. who was such a special friend this past year.
