Laura Owens Smith, affectionately known as Laura Lee, was born March 19, 1939 to the late Henry Owens and Corina Hill Owens in Roseboro N.C. on Monday, January 23, 2017, the Lord with his infinite wisdom called Laura home.
She was a special lady, she was a fighter, she overcame many obstacles in her life. She loved her family and friends dearly.
Laura joined First Missionary Baptist Church in 1982. She loved her pastor the Rev John T. Oliver and her church family dearly. You could find her in the mother’s corner on Sunday’s waving her hand and praising GOD. She was in numerous organizations where she served faithfully until her failing health.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. & Mrs. Henry Owens. grandchild Jacob Caldwell, great grandchild Zymir Caldwell, sisters; Mabel Ingram and Catherine Melvin, brothers; Joseph, Henry, James, Kirby, Carl Wade, and Hermon Owens.
Laura is survived by Daughters; Laronda Caldwell (Travis) of the home. Sebrena Murphy (Parsell Sr.) of Roseboro N.C., Sons: George Williams of Eastover N.C., James Williams (Frieda) of Fayetteville N.C., Sisters: Edwina Melvin, Lola McDoe, Margaret Johnson (Roy), Emma Butler, Juanita Richardson (William), Brothers: Samuel Owens Paul Owens. Aunt: Mable Owens. Twelve Grandchildren, Sharnee (James), Corenia, Parsell Jr, Bryson, Jayme, Labria, George IV, Jayden, James, Cameron, Jaikira, Miracle and Avaya.
A special adopted niece Mary Rich. Six God children. She has a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
