Laura Jean Ruffner, 77 of Greensburg, died on Thursday, April 5, 2018, in her family home.  She was born December 3, 1940 in Westmoreland Hospital Greensburg, a daughter of the late Samuel and Jessie ‘Cricket’ Thropp.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Thropp.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church Greensburg. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, quilting, knitting, and sewing in which she received many awards and ribbons.  Prior to retirement, she was employed with Concordia Home Health Care as a Nurses Aide for over ten years which she gained great satisfaction from taking care of her patients and making a difference in their lives.  She was a devoted mother of five daughters and five grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Lorie (Dirk) Smith of Murrysville/Export, Lisa (Joe) Rizza of Scottdale, Londa Ruffner of Greensburg, Lyna (Jon) Guerena of Corona Del Mar, CA, and Lee Ann (Chris) Thompkins of Supply, NC; ex-husband, Leslie K. Ruffner; grandchildren, Joshua Rizza, Nathan Rizza, Shelby Guerena, Emma Guerena, and Jack Guerena; and sisters, Donnie (Hal) Freeman, Linda (Wes) Klingensmith, and Debbie (Albert) Carfang; and, sister-in-law, Donna Thropp.
