Laura Corrine (Runemark) Clausen was born on Feb. 21, 1931, in the prairie country of Ward County, North Dakota, to Charles and Laura Runemark and was known there as Corrine or “Coney” to her family.
Corrine graduated from Minot High School in 1949 and worked at the local movie theatre until, at age 19, she and her mother moved to Elkhart, Ind. In this new city she worked at the local bank and eventually met the “love of her life” on a blind date. She and Dean Clausen were married in June 1953 in Adamsville, Mich., when she was 22 and he 27.
In Elkhart, Corrine worked as a receptionist at Miles Laboratories and later as an office assistant for surgeon, Dr. Bruce McArt. Their daughter, Paula Kay, was born in 1956 in Elkhart. The family moved to Oak Park, Ill. in 1966 and to Midland in 1967, where Corrine resided until her death on March 22, 2012.
Corrine was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, in 1998; her parents; and her two older brothers, Richard Cline and Kenneth Runemark. She is survived by her daughter, Paula St. Louis (Stan) of Midland; granddaughter, Donna Corrine St. Louis of Philadelphia, Pa.; grandson, Scott Richard St. Louis of Midland; and her very special sister-in-law, Patricia Warner and her husband, Charles, of Edwardsburg. Corrine is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Corrine was a passionate animal lover. She never met a furry face she didn’t love. The family would like to thank the staff of MidMichigan Stratford Village and MidMichigan Home Care-Hospice for their vigilant care.
