Laura Ann Unroe Pierce, 55, Anderson, died November 25, 2008 at her Anderson home after an extended illness.

She was born January 27, 1953 in Anderson, and lived in here for most of her life and for short periods in North Vernon, Indiana and Las Vegas, Nevada, where she became a certified Blackjack Dealer.

Laura attended Seventh Street Elementary, Central Jr. High and Anderson High Schools. She loved the Seventh Street reunions. She served in the U.S. Army, where she obtained her GED.

Laura was a caregiver to Aunt Sadie and Helen Newman, worked as a babysitter and in many local restaurants, including Pizza King and Rax. She also worked on plastic molding machines and assemby lines.

In addition, Laura, knew many people in Anderson from working at Low Bobs Tobacco on Scatterfield Rd. Her hobbies included camping, Coca-Cola collecting, cooking, reading, bowling, and watching television. She loved great movies like “The Wizard of Oz”, “Independence Day” and “Lonesome Dove”. She was a music fan who loved Bob Seger, The Eagles, and all modern country music.

She is survived by her husband, William A. Pierce; four sisters-in-law, Virginia Merrill & husband, Fred, Darla Crabtree, Linda Schroeder and Violet Lafferty & husband, Alvin; two brothers-in-law, Steve Moyer & wife, Vicki and Max Pierce & wife, Sue; mother-in-law, Lucy Pierce; and her special extended family including cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She loved her family, friends, and especially her dogs, Blue, Elvis, Bubba and Mitzy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Mary Lou Leasure UnRoe; stepmother, Betty Unroe, father-in-law, William Pierce, Sr. and maternal grandmother, Hattie Leasure.
