Lashanda Michelle Patterson was born on Saturday, April 2, 1988, in Augusta, GA.
She was educated in the Barnwell County School System and was a 2007 graduate of Williston-Elko High. Shanda, as she was affectionately called, loved playing sports during her adolescent years. She enjoyed being a cheerleader, as well as playing basketball, volleyball and running track. She received an award for Most Valuable Player (MVP) for Williston-Elko Blue Devils Basketball team.
While receiving her high school diploma from Williston-Elko, she also was enrolled at the Barnwell
County Career Center, pursuing her professional license as a Cosmetologist. When Shanda graduated
from high school, she successfully completed the Cosmetology Program and was a licensed
Cosmetologist. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at
Flora Branch Baptist Church in North, South Carolina.
Lashanda was a hard worker since her teenage years. Her first job was working at Hardees in Williston,
SC. She worked there for many years and later became a Manager at the Williston Restaurant as well as
in Swansea, SC. After her tenure working for Hardee’s, she began working at Michelin Tire in Lexington,
SC. While working at both Hardee’s and Michelin, Shanda stayed true to her first love, Hair Care.
Her love for hair grew stronger each time she styled someone. The entrepreneur inside of her was ignited
and she founded her hair care brand, Styles by Shanda. She was known as the Braid Queen, specializing
in all the latest style trends, and even creating her own. Being a true Cosmetologist, she cared about the
health of your hair. Shanda always had the best products and created remedies to help your hair grow.
After staying in the Columbia area for some time, she moved to Aiken to build her brand and clientele at
South Carolina.
Shanda had a beautiful smile that would light up any space that she entered. Being a humble, sweet, and
gentle hearted, could not outshine the fact that she was stern and motherly. Often having her own mother
wonder who was the mother. She was extremely talented, gifted, and loved her family. Lashanda was
known as a Grill Master; being able to cook an entire meal on a charcoal grill, including Mac and Cheese
and Cornbread.
On Sunday, September 10, 2023; our world changed forever. Lashanda received a special call from the
Master and had to take flight. We could imagine the caller saying that someone up in Heaven, needed
some fresh stitch braids, their locs retwisted or even a good wash and deep conditioner treatment. Shanda
being true to herself, always willing to help others, she left without delay. Losing someone is never easy
but losing someone and not having the chance to say goodbye hits differently.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lelia Mae Patterson and Junious Patterson, Jr;
her second mom, Doris Patterson, and her birthday twin and aunt, Barbara Patterson.
Those left to remember her beautiful smile and caring ways are: her mother, Lola Mae Patterson,
