Sergeant Larry Wayne Childs died unexpectedly after surgery in Aurora, Colorado, on June 15, 2017, at the age of 65. Sergeant Childs is survived by his wife, Jo Ellen Childs of Brighton, Colorado, and his son Jason Childs of Clermont, Florida. He is also survived by sisters, Patsy Shue, Gwin Killgo, Beverly Hardy, and his brothers, Ken and Rick Childs. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gail Pope and his father George T. Childs.
Sergeant Childs was born on December 1, 1951, in Roswell, New Mexico. After high school, he attended The New Mexico Military Institute for one year, and then moved to Florida to work in construction as a carpenter. Mr. Childs held an Associates Degree in Electronics and an Associates Degree in General Studies from Pikes Peak Community College. Sergeant Childs met his wife in the military and they were married while serving at Fort Benning, GA, in 1977. During the years of 1983 to 2003, Mr. and Mrs.
