Larry Splain, 84, of Woodbury, died Saturday, October 21, at the River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury after a short illness. Larry was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Xavier University. A Navy veteran, he served as a Lieutenant, JG, during World War II. He received a Masters in Communication from Syracuse University. One of Larrys passions was the English language. He was a prolific writer and an avid reader, sharing his love of literature with his students when he taught English at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati and at Somers High School in Somers, NY. Larry thoroughly enjoyed conversation with friends and family about books, faith, politics, history, tennis, gardening, and his many other interests. Larry was a member of St.
