Larry Franklin “Possum” Bowers, 73, of Taneytown, Maryland died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA. Born October 5, 1941 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Leonard and Mary V. Rodkey Bowers. He was the husband of Loretta Long Bowers, to whom he was married for 53 years.
Larry worked for The Bowers Company near Littlestown, PA for more than 35 years. He was an active and honorary member of the Harney Volunteer Fire Company and was a social member of Harney VFW Post 6918. He enjoyed helping with all Fire Company activities, and helping his children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Lynn Trankley, Leonard Bowers and wife Lori, Lisa Sowers and husband Jeff, Lee Bowers and wife Beth, and Laurie Bowers, all of Taneytown; sister, Linda Storey and husband Jim of Taneytown; grandchildren, Jay, Amanda and husband Brian, Nikki, Emily, Ashley, Bryan, Kendall, and Madelyn; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by granddaughter, Lindsey, and son-in-law, Robert Trankley.
