LARRY M. HEITZ, 75, of Ridott passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015, at his home. Born April 25, 1940, at home in Oneca Township in Stephenson County, the son of Merrill and Lela (Seidel) Heitz.
He graduated from Orangeville (Ill.) High School in 1959.
He served two years in the U.S. Army, serving in the U.S. and in Germany.
After returning from the service, Larry worked at the Ford garage in Freeport as a skilled mechanic, until his retirement.
He also spent 7 years with this very dear friend Joe (Rose) Noeske doing competition coon hunting, selling hides and showing Treeing Walker Coon Hounds.
He married Margaret A Snyder in May of 1972.He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Larry has a special love for all things John Deere. He was very proud of his tractor that he spent countless hours on, whether it be mowing the yard, blowing the snow, or just riding around to visit his neighbors.
Surviving him is his daughter, Christina (Stan) Ward of Smyrna, GA; his nieces, Lori Ann (Ross) Peebles of Rockford and Lori Ann (Louis) Polverini of Granby, MA; his nephews, Steve Heitz of Freeport and Kurt (Joanne) Snyder of Lena; great nieces, Ashley Heitz, and April (Heitz) Scheffner of Freeport, and Kendra Synder of Lena, great nephews, Steven Heitz of New Glarus, WI, Jesse Snyder of Princeton and Jacob Snyder of Rockton. His good friends, Jeanne (Eugene) Plum of Ridott, David & Virginia Kentner of Freeport, Rafael and Amy Bonilla of Rockford and life long friend William (Ann) Samuelson of Red Oak.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Snyder) Heitz, his parents, and his brother, Keith Heitz.
