Larry was born in Kalispell on Sept.
15, 1948 to Jim and Laura Davey.
He is survived by his wife Maxine;
children Kent and Paula Davey; Keith and
Michelle Davey; grandchildren Brittany,
Kaden, Jackson, and Parker Davey; and
sister Darlene Sturzen.
Growing up in Kalispell, Larry attended
Flathead High School where he was a
linemen for the Flathead Braves. In 1966,
Larry graduated and joined the Navy as a
part of the “Kiddie Cruise” program. He
would reminisce about his time abroad
allowing him to see Australia and
Hong Kong.
He returned home in 1969, and, after a
week of dating, proposed to his life-long
friend Maxine with a peanut from Moose’s
Saloon. At 22, Larry was married and hard
at work for his father at Davey’s Used
Cars, which became a second home for
him and generations of family to follow.
Larry enjoyed work everyday and also
made lifelong ties to the community.
He was a coach of Rotary basketball,
member of the board for the Lakeside
Community Chapel and a member of the
school board for Lakeside.
Larry loved building friendships
whether having coffee with old friends
at Scotty’s or Bojangles or meeting new
friends while traveling with his family.
Larry enjoyed time on Flathead Lake
and Lake Mary Ronan where could
fish and tell stories to his children and
grandchildren about the generations who
were out on the water before them. He
sought out any and every opportunity to
teach his family that loving others was
more important than any bottom line.
Larry spent his later years full of big
wins over battles with operations on his
back, hip, knee and a fight with cancer. In
his retirement, Larry spent time seeing
friends and vacationing to Las Vegas, Salt
Lake City, and the Oregon Coast.
