Larry G. Van Orden, age 73 of Midland died at the MidMichigan Medical Center on Monday, October 13, 2014. The son of the late Edward and Eva (Wallace) Van Orden was born on December 29, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant where he was raised and educated. Larry was a Vietnam Veteran having served with the U. S. Army. On August 3, 1963 he married the former Jeanne Nagel. Larry had worked for the De Foe Ship Builders and American Hoist in Bay City and later in the oil fields with the Ray Jones Company. He retired as a truck driver from Trans Tech Trucking. Larry was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Berry Hill Post of the American Legion and active with the Sanford Senior Center where he enjoyed playing cards. He also enjoyed showing his antique 1948 Chrysler at many old car shows. Larry was very proud of his American Native heritage.

Larry is survived by his companion of over fifty one years, Jeanne; daughter Jasmin Seliger of Germany; grandchildren, Nichole and Tobias; great grandchild Layla. He is also survived by brothers Dale Van Orden of Vestaburg, Robert (Barbara) Van Orden of Missouri, Roy B. Van Orden of Midland, Paul Van Orden of Kalamazoo; sisters Doris Mumy of Mt. Pleasant, Linda (Ray) Durand of Plano, IL; God Children Russ Noykos, Judy Manteufel, Ted Nagel; many nieces, nephews and friends. Larry was predeceased by brothers Louis and Junior and sister Betty Weller.
