Larry Edward Qualls aka (Kang) was born in Leighton, Al to the late Mary Alice Carter and the late Robert Qualls, on May 4, 1951, he departed this life on November 15, 2016.
He confessed Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined Mt. New Home M.B. Church. He later united with First Baptist M.B. Church in Leighton, where he enjoyed exercising his voice in the Senior Choir.
Larry was employed with Fennel Farms for many years where he enjoyed the outdoors life, planting, harvesting, and collecting arrowheads from the many fields he cultivated with the tractors he drove. He was a caring person who always tried to help others. He was known for his fast feet, and a smile larger than life, always ending his phone calls with I LOVE YOU. Larry enjoyed life to its fullest. Upon retiring in 2012 he relocated to Decatur to be with his sons.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Ms. Mary A. Carter; one son Tyrone Garrett.
Mr. Qualls leaves to cherish his memories: four children, Edward Garrett (Christy), and Cedric Garrett of Decatur, Micheal Garrett (Kisha) and Beverly Carroll of Sheffield; three grandchildren, A-miyah, Maziyah, and Tomariah; three sisters, Mrs. Mae H. Little of Sheffield, Mrs. Rochelle Burnett of Leighton and Mrs. Martha Leggett (Milton) of San Antonio, TX; seven brothers, Mr. George Qualls (Barbara) of Florence, Mr. John Carter (Mildred) of Russellville, Mr. William Carter (Lynn), Mr. Ozzie Carter (Anita), Mr. Donnell Qualls (Debra) all of Leighton, Mr. Terry Carter (Samantha) of Town Creek, and Mr. Robert Qualls (Linda) of Dayton OH; a host of nieces nephews, a very special cousin, Mr. Larry Woods of Huntsville; and other relatives and friends.
