Larry E. Olson, age 80, of Algona passed away on Monday December 10, 2018 at the Algona Manor Care Center in Algona. Larry E. Olson, the son of Carl and Blanche (Benson) Olson, was born on June 21, 1938 in Grinnell, Iowa. On June 28, 1956, Larry was enlisted to the United States Marine Corp and was discharged on April 27, 1959. On April 8, 1961 Larry was united in marriage with Phyllis Weiland at the United Methodist Church in Wesley. He was employed by Hormel as a Master Electrician. Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, woodworking, watching NASCAR races and tending to his flowers in the front of his home. Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his two daughters, Kim Opheim and her husband Dan of Cylinder and Shellie Payton and her husband David of Powhatan, Arkansas; a son, Stacy Olson of Littleton, Colorado; five grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Alex and Dawson; five great grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis; sister, Donna Mae Simpson and two brothers, Richard and LaVerne Olson. .
