LARAINE EVA HARDY, 73, of Columbia, Maryland and formerly of West Reading, Pennsylvania, passed away April 22, 2017 after a full and faith-filled life. Daughter of the late Kathryn Delp and Herman Gehret of West Reading, Pennsylvania, Laraine bravely battled leukemia for the past five years. Beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Charles Hardy, formerly of Shillington, Pennsylvania, for 55 years. Loving mother of Donna Elshafei (Emad) of Columbia, Maryland and Melanie Lynch of Rowayton, Connecticut. Dearest grandmother to Sabrina and Adam Elshafei and Matthew Lynch. Cherished sister to Rea D. Gehret (Sharon) and the late Patricia A. Gehret (McDevitt) of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania.
Laraine was the head nurse at Maryland School for the Deaf, Columbia Campus, and loved working with children. She later worked as a travel agent and enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband, family and friends.
Laraine will be remembered best for her kindness, generosity and sense of humor. Everyone who knew her adored her and felt the gift of her huge capacity for love and charity.
