Lanore Virginia Reeves passed away on May 31, 2011 at the age of 92, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born November 28, 1918 to John and Ella Khile in Marshalltown, Iowa. At a young age Lanore moved to Los Angeles with her parents and older sister Marjorie. She attended Manual Arts High School and continued her education at Los Angeles City College, where she received her Associate’s Degree. Lanore married her sweetheart, Jack Reeves in 1943. They then settled in Oxnard where they raised their family.
Lanore raised her children as a stay at home mother until they reached adulthood. She then went to work for the Ventura County Probation Department where she retired in 1992. Lanore joined in a few trips with her sister. They went back to their hometown in Iowa, and also traveled throughout parts of Europe. Mostly, Lanore was content being at home working in her garden. She loved her rose bushes. She enjoyed shopping at Green Thumb with her kids, a favorite pass time they shared. Lanore kept up to date on her reading. She enjoyed reading the news and all the latest gossip magazines.
Lanore was a loving mother, a daughter and wife. She lived a long and happy life. She will be missed.
Lanore is survived by her four children, Gale L. Hornsby (husband, Henry), Susan J. Baker (husband, Emery), Steven J. Reeves (wife, Charlene) and Wayne T. Reeves (wife, Debbie). Grandchildren: Faith, Susan, Luke, Stephanie, James, Michael, Natasha, Justin, Candace and Shane. Great-Grandchildren: Jenasis, Madison, Matthew and Malia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and husband.
