Lanora G. DeVore
Lanora DeVore, 91 of Knoxville, Iowa passed away September 2, 2011 at Griffin Nursing Home in Knoxville, Iowa.
Lanora was born in Lucas County, Iowa on April 23, 1920 to Elvin and Lucy (Storm) Fortune. A 1939 Graduate Chariton High School, Lanora pursued higher education at Kirksville State Teachers College where she received her teaching certification. She married James ‘Allen’ DeVore on May 23, 1942.
Lanora is survived by her daughter, Barbra DeVore of St. Louis, Missouri:son and daughter-in-law Jim and Karen DeVore of Knoxville, Iowa, grandsons Brad (Carrie) Pittenger, St Louis, MO; Dr. Jeff Pittenger, Orlando, Florida; granddaughters Jennifer (Tom) Trystad, Des Moines, Iowa; Heather (Ross) Dickerhoof, Davenport, Iowa; Stephanie (Chad) Cruzen, Des Moines, Iowa;great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kate Pittenger ; Cali Trystad; Siena Dickerhoof; Isabella Cruzen and great-grandson, Jessie Dickerhoof; sisters-in-law Lucille Fortune, Newton, IA, Daralene Fortune, Houston, Texas, Nina DeVore, Reno, Nevada; brother-in-law, Myron DeVore, Centerville, Iowa, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. She was in preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond, Donald, Ivan Fortune and sister, Darlene DeVore.
The family extends its deep appreciated to the exceptional attention given to her by her care-givers and Hospice of Pella, Comfort House, Hospice of Central Iowa, and Dr. Earl McKeever.
