Lanny Preston Beam, 62, of Troutman, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Gordon Hospice House.
He was born on December 4, 1951 in Mooresville to Ruth Settlemyer Beam and the late Jack Richard Beam.
Lanny graduated from South Iredell High School in 1970 and was employed at Hunt Manufacturing for 31 years. He was a member of Beulah Heights Wesleyan Church. Lanny loved his church and he had a great friendship with his Pastor, Trent Patterson. Lanny also loved the coast of North Carolina and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He received a replica of many different species of ducks for his collection. He was a good fisherman and really enjoyed fishing in the ocean. Lanny was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
Lanny was a very loving son to his mother with whom he had a special bond. His mother would like to say “My Lanny P. was a Christian. He is now in heaven awaiting my arrival, when I will once again be able to hear him ask ‘What can I do for you today, Mom?’ a question he never failed to ask me every day. Rest in peace my beloved son, Lanny P. Beam. I always called him Lanny P.”
Lanny is survived by his mother, Ruth Beam, of Troutman; uncles, Steve Settlemyer of Morganton, NC and John Settlemyer of Texas; and a number of cousins.
