Mr. Lane DeVore Parker, age 87 crossed the path into heavenly sunlight, Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Jesse Helms Center in Monroe.

He was born November 22, 1924, son of the late John Henry Parker and wife, Lillie Pickett Moore. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae Simpson, January 28, 2010, a son, Ronald Lane Parker, December 21, 1985 and a sister, Helen Parker Kelman of Raleigh, NC August 23, 2011.

Mr. Parker is survived by one brother, John Henry Parker Jr. of Peachland, NC, a son Douglas Parker and wife, Charlene of Marshville.

Lane and Eula were sweethearts for 65 years. Fully dedicated to her job on the draft board, she had to send her husband to military duty. He helped train others in Louisiana before serving as a mechanic in Japan in WWII. He returned home to farm and teach Auto Mechanics at Piedmont High School and the Career Center in Monroe. Lane was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Marshville, where he served as Sunday school teacher, deacon and music director.
