Lamar E. Mutchler, 83, of 43 Second Avenue, Nisbet, passed peacefully Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Williamsport Home with his children and grandchildren at his side.

Lamar retired in 1988 from the former Avco, was an MP in the Army during W W II and a former softball umpire. He graduated from South Williamsport High School and the former Williamsport Technical Institute. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7863, Duboistown, Dietrick Lamade Lodge #755 F. & A.M. and the Williamsport Consistory. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening and butchering.

Born July 28, 1926 in Shamokin, he was the son of Edward L. and Elizabeth Mae Miller Mutchler.

Surviving are his daughters, Kathryn S. (Jacob) Winter of Huntersville and Bettie E. (Stephen Laielli) Mutchler of Nisbet; sons, Edward L. (Barb Watts) Mutchler of Williamsport and Matthew T. (Brenda Meskell) Mutchler of Lock Haven; brothers, John (Eleanor) Mutchler of Superior, Ariz. and Meril Mutchler of Williamsport; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Lamar was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary K. Turner, in 2007 and a grandson, Paul Joseph Winter.
