La Velva (Kitty) Cossetta Flannery Shepherd, 85, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Gulf Breeze Courtyard after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Kitty was born October 29, 1923 in Pedro, Florida to the late Willie and Maggie Alderson Flannery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harold W. “Dick” Shepherd.
Survivors include her loving son, Harold Richard “Ric” Shepherd and friend, Katy Folsom, of Mary Esther, Florida, two grandsons; Richard and Chris, one great-granddaughter; Abby, and one granddaughter-in-law; Ashley Shepherd, two sisters; Maggie Reynolds of Ruskin, Florida and Galispia Maze of Chicago, Illinois, 2 sister-in-laws; Dorothy Watson and Marilyn Toschlog of Richmond, Indiana, former Daughter-In-Law, Nyla Schaefer, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. She also leaves behind many local friends who were her extended family in Florida.
