Loyal Eldon Miller, 88, of Belton passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Baylor-Scott and White in Temple.

Eldon was born on February 10, 1934 in Seward, Nebraska to Rev. Loyal Albert and Elise (Sonday) Miller. He married LaNora Glazener in Dallas, Texas. After spending two years in the US Navy, he graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1963 with a BS in Accounting, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1964. Eldon was employed by Arthur Anderson (a multinational public accounting firm) for ten years. From there he entered banking with Bank of America (formerly First National Bank of Dallas) where he retired as Senior Vice President. After early retirement from Bank of America in 1988, he worked for RTC for a period of time. Mr. Miller was active in his profession serving on national, state, and local committees. Eldon and LaNora moved to Salado, Texas in 1992 and he continued his banking career as an internal auditor for several community banks in the area. He was active in community affairs serving as treasurer for the Village of Salado as well as the Salado Chamber of Commerce and other entities. Eldon was also a mentor for Salado ISD and served on the Mentor Board of Directors.

Mr. Miller was a longtime election judge in Precinct 203 for both Bell County and local elections. He joined the Lions Club after moving to Salado and became very active serving in all offices and was elected District Governor in 2001. Eldon was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Belton, serving on many committees as deacon, Sunday school director, Adult Choir, and was a referee in Upward Basketball. He and LaNora enjoyed travelling, visiting nearly every continent. They travelled extensively throughout Europe and enjoyed taking cruises.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He is survived by his wife LaNora of Belton; sons Mark Allen Miller of San Antonio, and Douglas Lee Miller of Plano; step-daughter Pamela Ann Donaldson of Colorado; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister Kathy Gross of Georgia.
