L. Dale Hyatt, age 88 of Midland passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012, at his home. The son of the late Edwin and Mary (Daugherty) Hyatt was born May 8, 1923, in Huntington, Indiana. Dale served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was employed with The Dow Chemical Co. as a foreman retiring in 1978 after 36 years of service. Dale was active in Mt. Haley Church of God, for over 60 years. He enjoyed horseback riding, deer hunting, gardening, and farming. Dale enjoyed spending time with family, especially the summer BBQs. He and his wife, Marjorie, wintered in Zephyr Hills, Florida for several years. Dale was a member of the Trail Riders Association. In 2007 Dale was very proud to be able to attend the Dow Honors Flight to Washington D.C. On February 25, 1947, in Angola, Indiana Dale married the former Marjorie A. Story. She died on August 29, 2011.

Surviving are his five children, Rebecca Cole of Dayton, Ohio, Gloria Honeman of Saginaw, Carol (Dale) Boudreau of Bay City, Dale I. Barajas of Freeland, Jeffery Hyatt of Midland; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Shun) Ross, Axson (Tracy) Boudreau, Jason (Ashley) Honeman, Crystal (Chris) Deary, Kaitlyn Barajas, Justin Boudreau, Nikolas Barajas, and Chad Boudreau; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorotha Otey of Midland, Opal Luce of Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Virgil Dale Hyatt, and brothers, Carl, Russell Sr., and Marvin Hyatt.
