“Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” (Special Olympics Motto) On July 27, 2015, Kyle David Schmidt, born February 8, 1967, ran into the waiting arms of his Savior, not only having won “a crown of life” (James 1:12), but also having exuded bravery, joy, exuberance, and love in the process.
He is survived by his parents, Walter & Nancy Schmidt of Huntsville; Three siblings: Cindi Schmidt Shaver and her husband, David of Huntsville, Terri Schmidt Huggins and her husband, Steve of Portland, Oregon, and Brian Schmidt and his wife, Debbie, of Lexington, NC; He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Kyle went home to heaven after a short battle with esophageal cancer. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Deborah Kolb and her office staff and to the employees of Hospice Family Care for their kind, loving, and considerate care of Kyle during his illness.
