Kiyoko (Kay) Miyazato Clower, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday morning, November 11, 2020.  She was born on February 12, 1929 in Naha, Okinawa.  After marrying a United States Army soldier, she came to the United States in 1959 and proudly became a United States citizen in 1969.  She was an active member of Tenth Avenue Baptist Church and was baptized in 1967.  She helped teach the First Grade Sunday School class for many years.  She later joined South Shelby Baptist Church.  She was known and loved in both churches for providing snacks for the Children’s Ministry each Sunday.  She also participated in various other events involving the Senior Adult Ministry and Women’s Ministry.  She was employed at Lakeview Nursing Home for 12 years where she loved each patient and brought smiles to their faces.  Kay will always be remembered for her sweet spirit, selfless yet strong nature, and positive attitude despite the many health issues she faced prior to her death.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus “Son” Clower; her son, Ray Clower; and two brothers Hiroshi Miyazato and Kiyoji Miyazato.  She is survived by three brothers, Saburo, Seishin and Isamu Miyazato, each of whom remain in Okinawa, and her sister, Miyoko Zebell, of Phoenix, Arizona.  She is also survived by her daughter, Jan Clower Humphries (Peter); two grandsons, Matthew Early and Adam Tittle (“Elizabeth”); and five great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Isabel, Blakelee, Grayson and Skyler.  Her family was her greatest joy (along with Alabama football).
