Kirk Faber, 64 of Mesa, AZ formerly of Jefferson, SD, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at Lund Family Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Arizona following a 10 year heroic battle with an undiagnosed disease. Kirk was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Deann (Fink) of 44 years, daughter, Vickie Owen (husband Shannon) and son, Scott Faber (wife Angie Hofius) and 4 grandchildren, Addison and Taylar Owen, Kaci and Lexi Faber and his older brother’s, Doug (wife Joann), Danny and Warren. Kirk was born March 29, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa to Maynard Faber and Florence Pike (both deceased) and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1966. He married Deann on November 15, 1966 and they raised two children there until moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1982. Kirk worked until medical retirement for the Arizona State Lottery and his hobbies include building, flying and crashing model airplanes, go-cart racing, ham radio and any kind of auto racing. Kirk was a phenomenal mechanic and was gifted in restoring vehicles back to their original condition. He loved listening to music and later in life became involved and committed to bird rescue. His sense of humor was only outdone by his love of food.
