Kimiyo Fijimoto Oakley passed into the Lord’s loving arms after a courageous battle with cancer. She never gave up and her motto of hope was “I’m still here”, when anyone asked how she was. At her time of death, she was surrounded by her family, and she was able to express her love to everyone.
She was born in Oita City, Kyushu Island, Japan. She survived many of the perils of World War II and later moved to Kumamoto, Kyushu Island, Japan. Here she attended high school and excelled in academics and sports. After completing high school, she was certified as a beautician and also completed sewing school.
Later, she moved to Fukuoka, Japan where she worked and then married the father of her four children, after coming to the U.S. in 1954.
