Mr. Kim Kurtis Kushto, 66, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Elkhart General Hospital following a sudden illness. He was born on March 5, 1954, and was the significant other of Ms. Johnnie Davidson of Elkhart.

Other than that, we don’t know very much about Mr. Kushto. As was his apparent wish, Mr. Kushto lived a quiet, private life and did not leave much of a record of himself. Sometimes, despite using advanced personnel search engines and having a very cooperative and helpful law enforcement community, it is difficult for a funeral home to glean personal information about someone when there is no one or nothing to tell his story. And unfortunately, this happens all too frequently.

We would love to report that Mr. Kushto worked many years at a local RV plant as a welder, or that a daughter or son grieves his loss, or that he served honorably in the US Army, or that his laugh lit up a room, or that he’d do anything to help others. But we can’t. There is no record. What we can tell you is that he bore the image of God, and even on the last day, he deserves to be loved, celebrated, and remembered. Despite his anonymity to us, he is well known to his Lord, and we entrust him to the Father’s hand.

In honor and memory of Mr. Kushto, we ask that you take a moment to think about what would happen to you in a similar situation. We know it’s a tough question, but think about who or what will tell your story when you’re gone. Leaving a record is a loving gesture that will do nothing but assist those who choose to remember you. If you haven’t, take a moment to see about getting this simple act done. Despite what you might think, some would be grateful that you did such a thing.
