On June 24,2024 Kevin Patrick Snashall walked his final steps of his earthly journey. Born on July 4,1955 to Roseann and Robert Snashall Jr, Kevin was a blessing that reaffirmed the gift of life for his parents after they lost older brother “Stevie” at birth a year earlier. Once again, with Kevin’s birth, the Snashall family had a new bundle of joy to embrace and remind them of the promise and hope of a new life. Alongside his oldest brother Rob, Kevin’s journey began. (Little did he know at the time, that five additional siblings would follow and his title of “youngest” be a distant memory on his journey).Growing up in Chenango Bridge, Kevin enjoyed the many joys of making and meeting new friends, playing, and participating in school sports, learning life skills in scouts and exploring life. He was never short of curiosity or adventure and certainly made his youthful journey enjoyable. After graduating from Chenango Valley High School, Kevins next journey began in Great Lakes, Michigan as an enrollee in the US Navy. He traveled the world as a seaman and served primarily in the Pacific theater, based in San Diego CA but also Norfolk, VA. Though this journey was for but one enlistment tour, it transformed the Chenango Bridge boy into a man of the west coast. From California to Oregon, Kevins journey brought him from the decks of naval ships to the love of his life in Oregon, his future wife, Brenda. With a newfound love for religious service, Kevin and his new bride completed their degrees at Conquerors Bible College in hopes to share religious teachings as missionaries. As with everyone, Kevins journey had presented challenges previously, but, in Oregon, he found hope, promise and joy alongside his bride.Always on a journey, Kevin, along with Brenda, and his new daughter Jessica, moved from Oregon to the heartland. Home to his wife’s roots, Kevin became a Hawkeye as he completed his degree in counseling at the University of Iowa. Having overcome challenges along his journey, Kevin did not want to merely tuck those lessons away, he wanted to help others overcome their challenges, so they too could enjoy a new journey. So, he became a counselor. This journey took him back to one of his first ports of call, Norfolk Virginia. Working as a counselor, Kevin, Brenda, Jessica and son Joshua planted their roots in the Norfolk/Suffolk Virginia area and lived there for over 35 years. Though Kevins earthly journey took its final steps there on June 24,2024, Brenda, Jessica Joshua continue their journeys in the area. While living there, Kevin, ever searching for a new journey, became interested in the Jewish community and their traditions and faith, and joined them to learn and explore more.
