Kevin Mason, 63, of Peru, passed away March 29, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Mason was born August 10, 1950 in Spring Valley to Donald “Mickey” and Mary Rita (Smith) Mason. He married Jane Tintorri on July 13, 1974 in St. Joseph’s Church, Peru. Kevin graduated from St. Bede Academy and Western Illinois University with a degree in accounting. Kevin became a Certified Public Accountant in 1976 and was the owner of Mason Accounting Group in Peru. Kevin was currently a member of Peru Federal Savings Bank Board. Mr. Mason was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru where he served in various roles including Commentator, Parish Council Board President and school board member. He was an active member in the Peru Rotary, previously serving as President. Kevin also served on the Board of Peru Library, Horizon House, and Peru Girls Softball. He was a member of the Ladd Moose. Kevin was a kind, generous man who enjoyed serving others. He was selflessly committed to his family and community. In his free time, Kevin enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, as well as coaching and watching sports. He especially loved to follow his favorite Chicago sports teams, the Bears and White Sox.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; three daughters, Andrea (Ryan) Whitlatch of Grayslake; Melissa Mason of Chicago, and Abby Mason of Shorewood; one son, Michael Mason of Iowa City, Iowa; one granddaughter, Emma Whitlatch; his mother, Mary Rita Mason of Bradford; three sisters, Sharon Henning of Troy, Ohio, Ellin (Michael) Lotspeich of Bradford, Rita (Jacques) Brouillette of Mundelein; two brothers, Charles Mason of Rockton and Robert Mason of Fort Wayne, Indiana
He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Alicia in infancy. Pallbearers will be Mike Rooney, Bill Schulte, Dan Zorn, Bob Grivetti, Barry Breuning, Frank Swingle, Tom Blair, Mike Leone and Mark Fernandez.
