Kevin Matthew O’Connor, 80, of Bristol, Indiana, passed away on January 25, 2021 in his dream home after a period of declining health.
Kevin was born on December 13, 1940 to James and Sarah (Houser) O’Connor in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Vincennes, IN, graduated from Central Catholic in 1958, served in the US Navy from 1958-1962. He graduated from Vincennes University. While at VU he met the love of his life and best friend, Delenne Albaugh and were married in 1965 in Elkhart, where they made their home and having two sons, Patrick and Sean.
Kevin was a force of nature, provided for his family and gave them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of Patrick, Sean, and Delenne and always tried his best to support them. Kevin worked for many years at the Indiana Toll Road as an Engineer Assistant till he retired. He re-joined the military in the Air Force Reserves in 1980 and proudly retired as a Master Sargent on Dec 13, 2000.
Kevin was passionate and found comfort being a Eucharistic Minister, especially at EGH and local nursing homes connecting with those he served. He also was very proud to serve in the Knights of Columbus as a member of the 4th Degree. As a fan of Notre Dame, he enjoyed serving as an usher for Notre Dame Football for several seasons till his health no longer allowed this activity. Kevin was also known as a prankster, he loved to share his good and not so good jokes, but also a deep loving soul to all.
Anyone who knew Kevin knew that he was very patriotic, loved his country and was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Kevin was preceded in death by his mother and father, James and Sarah, brothers Brian O’Connor, Pete O’Connor, Sean M. O’Connor and his brother in law Jack Sievers and sister, Debbie (O’Connor) Sievers.
He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Delenne, sons Patrick (Robin), Sean (Jennifer); six grandchildren, Kaileb (Alison) O’Connor, Ashley (Ryan) McCarthy, Macey O’Connor, Haley, Zach and Hannah Lehman, and the upcoming birth of a great granddaughter. Also surviving is a brother, Mike (Terri) O’Connor, two sisters, Susan (Carl) Logue, Sheila (Dennis) O’Connor-Sievers, and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
