Kevin Lyle Phillips
Beloved family man
Kevin Lyle Phillips, 84, went home to our Lord February 27th, 2008 in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
He was born June 26th, 1923 to Harold and Bridget Phillips in Lincoln, Nebraska. He attended Lincoln High School and then enrolled in the University of Nebraska in Lincoln until enlisting in the Navy. In the Navy, Kevin proudly served as a Sea Bee in the Pacific theater during World War II. After his Honorable Discharge in 1946 he worked briefly in California before returning to Nebraska. There Kevin met and married the love of his life, Frances Hope Parra. Kevin and Frances were blessed with three children, Michael, Linda, and William. After retiring, he and Frances moved to Otero County in New Mexico. Throughout Kevin’s life he enjoyed hunting and fishing in several states and Canada, traveling with his family, Nebraska football, baseball, and gardening. Although he led a very active life, his passion was always his family.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Frances, his children Michael (Shane) Phillips of Alamogordo, Linda Phillips-Dodson of Ramona, California, William (Jan) Phillips of North Platte, Nebraska, his sister Rose Maureen Brannon (Louis) of Marietta, Georgia and brother William Phillips (Marge) of Hastings, Nebraska as well as 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Kevin’s special family and friends include Val and Freddy Gutierrez, Johnny and Vicki Vallejos, and many others.
