Kerry D Shaw, 72, passed away on September 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and friends at the George E Wahlen Veterans Home. He was born August 2, 1950 to Blair R and Lila Walton Shaw. He attended Weber County schools and Weber State College. Kerry served a mission in the New York Mission and then came home and joined the US Air Force. He served his country for 4 years and then was honorably discharged due to his injuries. He then went to work in Miami Florida for the Veterans Association. He moved to Utah to be closer to family. In 2012, Kerry met Janet Johansen in his ward. They enjoyed each other’s company and became best friends. In 2013 they married in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they continued to serve in different groups at church and the community. He served another mission for the Bishop’s Storehouse in Ogden. Kerry loved missionary work and serving others.
Kerry moved into the George E Wahlen Veterans Home in 2017 due to his health. This was a hard move for both Kerry and Janet. But true to Kerry fashion, he made friends quickly and got involved it all the wonderful things offered by the staff.
Kerry is survived by his wife Janet, step children: Chris and John Gunter, his siblings, Myrna (Roger) Pettengill, Sheldon (Janine) Shaw, Lonnie(Heather) Shaw, and Donna (Jeff) Linford, Henry and grandson Christopher Gordon, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son Blair, his parents, his nephew Chad, and foster daughter Terrie Gordon.
Special thanks to the staff at the George E Wahlen Veterans Home. They were truly Christ-like in their love and caring for Kerry for the past 5 years. He considered them his family. Also Bristol Hospice for their care and help in his final days on the earth.
