Kent Allen Berg, age 62, of Boise, Idaho passed away on October 2, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends.
Kent was born on December 28, 1951 in Williston, North Dakota to Stanley and Eleanor Berg. He was the oldest of four children.
His children were his life. Brinley and Jeff gave him an infinite amount of joy and a few tears and gray hair. They always knew he was there for them no matter what. He was their rock, their friend, their Dad to the end.
Kent was also a devoted son to Eleanor (Berg) and Jerry Washburn of Twin Falls. He had a quick sense of humor and teased his mother, who didn’t delay in giving it back to him. He adored his mother and they shared a special bond throughout his life.
Kent was loved by all of his nieces and nephews. He was a magnet to children who felt his sincerity immediately. Each one will testify they were his favorite. He knew how to make them the center of his world and they felt immediately drawn to him. He spent countless patient hours playing with them when they were little. As they all grew, Kent became the uncle they could tell anything to and not be tattled on or judged.
Kent attended school in Chula Vista, California, then Immanuel Lutheran in Twin Falls. He then attended Robert Stewart Junior High School and graduated from Twin Falls high school in 1970. He attended two years at CSI earning an Associate’s Degree. He began his long sales career at Shirley & Wyatt’s retail men’s wear store in downtown Twin Falls, Idaho. Wayne Wyatt was one of his employers and became his lifelong mentor and friend. He continued his sales career with London Fog. Kent was well traveled thanks to his career and made friends everywhere he lived. From Twin Falls to Casper, Wyoming to Ogden, Utah to Chandler, AZ, and then to Boise, Idaho.
Kent married Pam Browne, his high school sweetheart in 1976 and they had two children, Brinley and Jeff.
He enjoyed golf, travel, hiking and fishing. There were many happy times at the family cabin in Smiley Creek, Idaho.
Kent is survived by his two children, Jeff (Christine) Berg and Brinley Berg; his three siblings, Keith Berg of Boise, DelRae Keim of Boise, and Clark (Desiree) Berg of Twin Falls; and his mother, Eleanor Washburn and her husband, Jerry Washburn of Twin Falls. Kent enjoyed many happy days with his one granddaughter, Brenna Berg, who was born on September 17, 2003. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Ian, Andrew, Elizabeth, Annie, Emily, Wyatt and Madelin.
Kent’s father, Stanley Berg, preceded him in death in 1976 as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Special thanks to the staff of Encompass Hospice and Assisting Hands Home Health Care.
Know you are loved, Kent. We will miss your smile, your laugh and your kindness forever.
