Kennis James Robinson Sr., a native and resident of the Gainestown community, better known to family and friends as “KJ,” answered the Master’s call on Saturday, March 6, 2021 while at UAB Hospital in Birmingham with his wife at his side. He was born on July 2, 1969 to Mary Lee Rankin Robinson and Eddie Lee Robinson. A faithful and dedicated member of Gainestown AOH Church, he served as a musician for many years and was under the leadership of the late Overseer Henry and Eunice Rodgers as his spiritual father and mother. He was a 1988 graduate of Jackson High School. KJ was very musically inclined. He loved playing the keyboard and bass guitar, working in his yard, helping others and especially spending time with his lovely wife, children, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Eddie Rankin and Flora Rankin, and S.T. Robinson and Amelia Robinson; mother-in-law, Lillie Bell Williams; brothers-in-law, Here Williams, Eric Williams, Frank Williams Jr. and Lawrence Foxx; and sister-in-law, Shirley West.
Left to cherish his loving memories are his devoted wife of 26 years, Janice Williams-Robinson of Gainestown; son, Kennis James Robinson Jr. of Gainestown; daughter, LaAndrea Marie Robinson of Jackson; his loving mother, Mary Lee Robinson of Gainestown; three brothers, Levester (Annette) Robinson of Grove Hill, Craig Robinson and Jeffrey (Karen) Robinson, both of Gainestown; sister, Millicent Foxx of Gainsetown; father-in-law, Frank Williams Sr. of Gainestown;18 brothers-in-law and 13 sisters-in-law; with a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces other relatives and a very special friend, Larry Williams Sr.
