Kenneth “Wayne” Sanders, 77, of Meredosia, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Winchester, the son of Edward Lee and Sarah Anna Kessinger Sanders. He married Daisy Marie Sumpter on Dec. 23, 1956, in Pittsfield and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, the Rev. Kenneth M. (Diana) Sanders and Anthony (Cheryle) Sanders, both of Meredosia; one daughter, Sonya (David) Dilley of Springfield; eighteen special grandchildren; eighteen special great-grandchildren; three honorary grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl W. (Sandy) Sanders of Jacksonville and Cecil Raymond (Brenda) Potter of Quincy. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Victoria G. Sanders-White (surviving husband James of Springfield); one brother, William L. Sanders; and one sister, Carol J. Potter.
Mr. Sanders worked at Hannel Oil Company in Jacksonville for many years. After his retirement, he worked several years for Fortado Farms. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Meredosia American Legion. Wayne enjoyed NASCAR and baseball. His favorite pastime was drawing. He especially loved and enjoyed his family.
